Sonia Bobra, MD, MPH

Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital

 

Dr. Bobra works as Assistant Professor in Diagnostic Neuroradiology at the Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Hospital, with an academic affiliation at Loyola University Medical Center. She is Assistant Chief of Neuroradiology at Hines VA. Dr. Bobra is the Program Site Director for Radiology Residents and the Clerkship Director for Radiology Medical Students at Hines VA . She serves as a Resident Mentor as part of the Resident Mentor Family Program at LUMC. She also mentors medical students through the Women in Medicine Mentorship. Dr. Bobra presents numerous lectures at both Loyola and Hines VA, the most recent on Neuroimaging Findings in COVID-19.

 

Dr. Bobra is a graduate of Northwestern University Medical School. She also has a degree in Public Health from University of Minnesota. She completed her radiology residency at University of Illinois - Chicago and her Neuroradiology Fellowship at Feinberg Northwestern University Hospital.

 

Dr. Bobra has worked on the Strategic Map Working Group at Hines VA to provide accessible high-quality care for veterans. Dr. Bobra is currently a co-investigator on a research study evaluating Transmagnetic Stimulation in Combination with Yoga intervention for Veteran patients with Mild Traumatic Brain Injury and Chronic Pain. She was awarded the ACR Goldberg Reeder Travel Grant in 2010 and traveled to Tanzania to present lectures to radiology dept, interpret imaging studies and arrange donations to the hospital. She also interned at the World Health Organization, Physicians for Human Rights and spent a month trekking the Himalayas and providing medical care in medical school. Dr. Bobra is married with 3 kids, serves as a room parent for her kids’ classrooms, and enjoys new quarantining hobbies such as hiking, gardening, cooking and navigating virtual learning with her children.
